Trillium Health Partners

2015

  • 2015 Booth Centennial Green Award from Booth Centennial. This award recognizes hospitals who have demonstrated a commitment to going green and using reusable textiles, as opposed to costly and environmentally-unfriendly disposables. In 2015, Trillium Health Partners’ Mississauga Hospital was commended for their efforts in this area to transition from disposable wrappers to reusable for the instrument trays.

2014

  • 2014 Booth Centennial Green Award from Booth Centennial. This award recognizes hospitals who have demonstrated a serious commitment to going green and using reusable textiles, as opposed to costly and environmental-unfriendly disposables. In 2014, the Vascular Interventional Radiology team at the Credit Valley Hospital was commended for their efforts in this area to change from individual packs to multi-supply packs and maintaining the use of reusable gowns in an individual pack.

  • 2014 Green Health Care Award for Energy Efficiency from the Ontario Hospital Association, Health Achieve and the Canadian Coalition for Green Health Care. This award recognizes leadership and excellence in reducing health care’s environmental impact, including evidence of progress in energy efficiency.

  • 2014 Energy and Environmental Stewardship Award from the Canadian College of Health Leaders. This award is national recognition for our continual work towards environmental sustainability through THP’s initiatives in the environmental management system, energy and water projects, standardizing waste management posters and recycling rates, employee engagement and outreach efforts and environmental awareness training for all staff.

2012

  • 2012 Greening Health Care Leadership Award from Greening Health Care. This award recognized our leadership in the pursuit of sustainability, and our commitment to all facets of sustainability through the use of a systematic process and governing structure.

2011

  • Workopolis Innovation in Employment Branding Award: Trillium Health Centre's campaign - People Promise - Canadian HR Reporter and the Human Resources Professionals Association (HRPA) honoured the recipients of the third annual HR Summit Awards at a special gala in Toronto. The awards recognize Canadian HR professionals and teams who have made outstanding contributions to the human resources profession and business community through the implementation of innovative human resources programs and practices as well as thought leadership.   • United Way Tri-Hospital Spirit Award - The United Way of Peel Region presented Trillium Health Centre, The Credit Valley Hospital and William Osler Health System with the Outstanding Employee Campaign Award for their Tri-Hospital Challenge This award is presented for workplace campaigns that show an outstanding increase in employee participation and excel in their support of United Way. 2010

  • Janet Davidson recognized as one of Canada’s Most Powerful Women for 2010 - Since her arrival in 2007, President and CEO Janet Davidson’s work at Trillium Health Centre has been remarkable and is representative of the dedication, vision and passion which has guided her over her 30-year career in health care and through her years of volunteer service in Canada and around the world. This is the second consecutive year that Davidson has received this honour. November 2010
  • Trillium receives award for Nurse Jackson Video - Trillium Health Centre has been awarded the 2010 Out of the Box Award for the infection control educational video, Nurse Jackson. Trillium was selected for this honour by Hamilton and Neighbouring Districts Infection Control Community (HANDIC), a chapter of Hospital Infection Control Association (CHICA). The award is given to an individual or group that has made a significant impact on infection control practices with the use of innovative ideas and imagination. November 2010
  • 2010 Individual Peer Award - Sue Schneider, Senior Advisor Data Custodian of Health Information Management at Trillium Health Centre, was the recipient of the 2010 Individual Peer Award at the recent Standards Collaborative Partnership Conference in Vancouver on November 15, 2010.
  • Platinum Award for Quality Healthy Workplace Trillium was presented with the Platinum Award for Quality Healthy Workplace from the Ontario Hospital Association and the Ministry of Health and Long-Term Care’s HealthForce Ontario. The award is given to organizations that improve healthcare workplaces in ways that contribute to the quality of work life for healthcare providers and the quality of care and services that they deliver. The Platinum Award is given for achieving the highest possible standard for a Quality Healthy Workplace. November 2010
  • Canadian Council on Health Services Accreditation Three-Year Accreditation Award and was recommended for six leading practices - Trillium completed the on-site accreditation survey with Accreditation Canada May 16-21, 2010. In addition to receiving a three-year accreditation, Trillium was recommended for six best practices: Transfer of Accountability at the Bedside; Patient Education in Birthing Suite; ST Elevation Myocardial Infarction (STEMI); Order Sets-Best Practices; Managing Alternate Level of Care in partnership with CCAC and LHIN; and Continuum of Spine Care.
  • Achievement Awards– Two Trillium physicians have been awarded 2010 postgraduate achievements awards from the Department of Family & Community Medicine at the University of Toronto. Dr. Bachir Tazkarji won the award for Innovations in Education while Dr. Michael Kates won the award for Resident Advocacy. Both awards were given out in the Educational Achievement Awards category.   • Ontario Hospital Association Health Achieve recognizes three leading practices - Three of Trillium’s leading practices were recognized at this year’s OHA Health Achieve event. They are: Baby and You (education), eWhiteboard (technology) and Code STEMI (patient safety and quality.) 2010

2009

  • David C. Onley, Lieutenant Governor of Ontario, presented the Community Action Award to Trillium Health Centre volunteer Bill Alexander. This award honours individuals who, through their leadership and commitment, have been instrumental in creating positive change for Ontarians with disabilities. December 2009
  • Trillium President and CEO Janet Davidson recognized as One of Canada’s Top 100 Most Powerful Women. November 2009
  • iCARE, Trillium Health Centre’s intranet site, won an International Award of Distinction from U.S.-based Strategic Healthcare Communications. November 2009
  • Trillium Health Centre is one of 30 hospitals in Ontario that passed a Ministry audit for successfully implementing a new web-based case costing system, “MedAssets.”, 2009
  • Gatekeeper Training Program – Since 2005, our Community Mental Health team has been working in partnership with the TTC and St. Mike's to provide training to TTC staff in suicide awareness, prevention and intervention since 2005. This partnership was awarded a Sharing the Flame Certificate of Recognition as a promising practice by the Canadian Council on Learning. October 2009
  • OR Benchmark Collaborative Top Performer Award – The OR Benchmarks Collaborative (ORBC) awarded Trillium Health Centre the 2009 Top Performer Award. (ORBC has 400 subscribers and 5.5 million case records compromised of 55 data points each. This company specializes in clinical data management and is unbiased.) Trillium Health Centre was recognized as Service Excellence Honorees in the Scheduling Accuracy category (Mississauga for community non-Academic), Turnover category (Cardiac Services for community non-Academic) and in the Utilization category (WT for Ambulatory Surgery Centres). September 2009
  • Trillium Health Centre inducted into the National Quality Institute Canadian Hall of Excellence. August 2009
  • Trillium Health Centre received the 3M Health Care Quality Team Award for Creating Excellence in Spine Care at the Canadian College for Health Service Executives annual conference. June 2009
  • Michael Rachlis – Toronto-based health policy analyst and one of the leading experts on the Canadian health care system – was interviewed by Steve Paiken on TV0’s The Agenda. When asked about health care in Canada as compared to the United States, Michael specifically cited the University Health Network and Trillium Health Centre as being "noted around the world to be centres of true excellence." May 2009
  • Hospital Report 2009 – Trillium Health Centre recognized as high performer for Clinical Outcomes and Utilization for acute care, rehab and complex continuing care. April 2009
  • Trillium Health Centre awarded the prestigious Health Care Safety Award from the Canadian College of Health Services Executives for its safe patient hand-off method. March 2009
  • Trillium Health Centre’s Intensive Care Unit Team wins “Best of the Best” Award in the International Nutrition Survey. January 2009

2008

  • Trillium Health Centre receives 2008 Patient Safety Award for the Purell Challenge at OHA convention, November, 2008
  • The Institute for Clinical Evaluative Sciences (ICES), in collaboration with the Cardiac Care Network of Ontario (CCN) declared Trillium Health Centre the only hospital to perform at or better than the provincial average in every category of cardiac surgery. The report confirms that we are not only a leader in coronary artery bypass surgery but we are a provider of world-class, quality care., July 2008
  • Nomination from Mississauga Technology Awards for Trillium’s Health Information Access Layer (HIAL), 2008

  • CIPA (Canadian Information Productivity Awards). Trillium Health Centre was one of the 90 finalists in a field of 170 entries. Trillium’s ‘BlackBerry in the ICU’ project was a finalist in the ‘Organizational Transformation’ category. 2007

Credit Valley Hospital

2012
  • Excellence Canada awarded the Canada Order of Excellence to the Trillium sites, recognizing excellence, innovation and wellness programs, commitment to continuous improvement, overall quantitative goal setting, healthy workplace practices and community collaboration.
  • The Credit Valley site was formally designated under the Trillium Gift of Life Network. This designation signifies that Credit Valley is supporting successful organ and tissue donation using best practice, and has developed an Organ and Tissue Donation Committee.
  • The Trillium site was awarded the program of distinction, Level 1 accreditation, by the International Association for Healthcare Security and Safety (IAHSS) for a two-year period.
  • For the second year in a row, the Credit Valley site was named a Greater Toronto Top Employer, just one of 95 employers in the GTA to receive this recognition.
  • The Trillium site was named one of The 50 Most Engaged Workplaces™ in Canada, gaining recognition as a top employer that displays leadership and innovation towards engaging their employees. Trillium was also selected as one of the 2011 Best Workplaces in Canada by the Great Place to Work Institute Canada.
  • Our organization received a Best Practice Spotlight Organization (BPSO) designation from the Registered Nurses Association of Ontario (RNAO). The department of Laboratory Medicine at the Credit Valley site achieved full Ontario Laboratory Accreditation (OLA).
  • Trillium site’s Laboratory Services was awarded the Ontario Society of Medical Technologists’ 2011 National Medical Laboratory Week (NMLW) Recognition Award.
  • Nightingale Award for outstanding nursing.

2011

  • Credit Valley was recognized as one of Greater Toronto’s Top Employers for 2011 in an annual review conducted by the Globe and Mail and eluta.ca, a popular job search engine.
  • The Transfusion Medicine Laboratory staff received a Certificate of Recognition for Blood Product Management from the Ontario Regional Blood Coordinating Network and Canadian Blood Services.
  • Credit Valley was the first recipient of the Quality Program Endoscopy (QPE) Award from the Canadian Association of Gastroenterology (CAG). The award recognizes clinical quality of care and patient experience in the delivery of endoscopy services in Canada.
  • The Canadian Diabetes Association Standards Recognition Review Committee recognized Credit Valley’s Family Health Team with a five-year accreditation.
  • Credit Valley was awarded the Best Practices in Employer Support: Government by the Canadian Forces Liaison Council, in recognition of CVH’s support for emergency department nurse and clinical educator, Shannon Tyrrell, who is also a Captain and military reservist with the Canadian Forces.
  • The Early Pregnancy Clinic won Credit Valley’s 2010 Dr. Calvin Gutkin Award, presented annually to recognize outstanding achievement by a team or individual who, through the application of quality improvement principles, has made a significant improvement in the care and/or service we provide.
  • The School of Health Services at Seneca College recognized Credit Valley for our contribution, commitment and dedication to clinical nursing education at the college.
2010

  • The Credit Valley Hospital received a three year accreditation from Accreditation Canada. The hospital scored higher than the national average in all eight quality dimensions and in all 12 of the hospital’s program areas.
