Practical Skills

As your loved one prepares to leave the hospital, there may be new caregiving skills that you need to learn. Be sure to make use of the resources and health care providers that you have access to in the hospital. Ask questions if there are things that you don’t understand and if you need to perform a new activity, ask staff to teach you. It’s also important to get involved in the care of your loved one while they’re in the hospital. This way you can gain experience in doing the things you may need to do at home.
