Medical Psychiatry Consult Liaison

​The team serves the in-patient population of Mississauga Hospital by seeing patients and supporting staff in the diagnosis and management of patients with concurrent psychiatric and medical-surgical conditions. These may include: delirium, dementia, depression, anxiety, and effects of substances. Issues that the team may help to address include, but are not limited to:

  • Clarification of issues to Mental Health Act
  • Supportive psychotherapy for patient and family members experiencing grief, adjustment to acute and chronic medical illnesses, substance use issues
  • Behavioural management strategies
  • Cognitive assessment
  • Medication recommendation
  • Evaluation of medically un-explained symptoms​​
